Adutwum campaigns in Ho, promises education-driven governance, party renewal

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, a contestant in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries and former Minister of Education, has toured Ho West and Ho Central constituencies, pledging education-led development, inclusion, and party renewal.

Dr Adutwum, over the weekend, engaged party delegates and supporters in the two constituencies as part of his nationwide campaign.

Addressing party faithful, he said Ghana’s education system required urgent reforms to produce well-rounded citizens who understood governance, economics, and national history, stressing that education remained the surest path to prosperity.

“Our social studies curriculum does not give young people the opportunity to understand how government and the economy work,” he said, adding that “education gaps will eventually weaken the economy.”

Dr Adutwum cited his personal interventions in providing scholarships to needy students, including support for engineering and medical students, as evidence of his commitment to practical leadership and human capital development.

He recounted how such interventions had transformed families and restored confidence among long-serving party supporters, urging members not to give up on the party despite past disappointments

The former Minister pledged that, if elected President, he would institutionalise regular engagement between government officials and party grassroots to ensure feedback, accountability, and inclusiveness.

“We lost touch with the people because there was nobody to talk to,” he noted, promising annual constituency engagements by ministers and chief executives under his leadership.

Dr Adutwum further outlined his vision to train at least 100 engineers in every constituency, describing engineering and medicine as critical professions capable of lifting families out of poverty.

He said leadership was about transformation rather than noise, citing his role in building and upgrading STEM and public schools, and called on delegates to support his bid ahead of the January 31, 2026 primaries.
