Volta NSA applauds Gunu, Adom for ongoing Ho Stadium upgrade 

The National Sports Authority (NSA) in the Volta Region has expressed its appreciation to Mr James Gunu, the Regional Minister and Mr Stephen Adom, Ho Municipal Chief Executive for their support towards the ongoing upgrade of the Ho Sports Stadium. 

The stadium, which has been in a state of disrepair for a long time, is currently undergoing rehabilitation works, including construction and improvement of the stadium’s drainage system, provision of new toilet facilities across the stadium, replacement of stadium seats and installation of shade structures for the open stands and clearing of weeds around the facility.

Also, comprehensive painting and facelift works, leveling of the stadium compound and other essential enhancements aligned with modern stadium standards.  

A statement signed by Madam Philippina Frimpong, Volta Regional Director, NSA and copied to Ghana News Agency said the Authority saw the ongoing upgrade as a significant boost to sports development in the region and called for continued collaboration between government and community stakeholders to ensure the project’s completion. 

“These improvements will significantly strengthen the capacity of the stadium to support sporting activities, athlete development, community recreation, and the hosting of major events. The enhanced facility will also create a more conducive environment for training, competitions, and youth engagement.

The Regional Sports Authority acknowledges that the steadfast commitment and visionary leadership of Honourable James Gunu has placed sports in the region on a path of genuine reset and revitalisation. His dedication continues to inspire renewed confidence in the future of sports growth and infrastructure development in the Volta Region;” it said.

The statement added that “The Secretariat reiterates its commitment to partner with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, the Ho Municipal Assembly, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the Ho Sports Stadium remains a proud symbol of progress and a functional sporting hub for the region.” 

These ongoing works are happening ahead of two major events to be hosted at the stadium, the seventh Volta Trade and Investment Fair from November 26-December 8 and the National Farmers’ Day celebrations on December 5.
