“I Was Named Chief One By My Grandmother” – Chief One

Speaking with KMJ, the royal host in the early hours of January 20th, 2022, fast-rising Ghanaian hiplife and Afrobeats musician, Chief One, reveals how he got his stage name.

The musician who is taking Ghana by storm revealed that growing up, his grandmother used to call him “Togbui”, meaning Chief in Ewe, so when choosing a stage name for his brand, Michael Ivan Nyagamagu, revealed he decided to add one to the Chief his grandmother had been calling him to make everything simple.

Chief One, who has conquered everywhere with his current hit song, NYOVAYI, is currently in the capital town of Ghana embarking on a meia tour and promoting his brand. He is one of the few newbies we will like to see in this year’s VGMA New Artiste Of The Year Category.
