Keta Youth Demand New IGP To Investigate Maya’s Death

Youth groups in Keta, are calling on their leaders to petition the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tete Yohunu, to launch a thorough investigation into the death of Jerry Kpesenu, popularly known as “Maya,” a 45-year-old landlord who died in police custody.

The youth allege that Keta police officers subjected Maya to severe beatings and mistreatment while in detention, leading to his tragic demise. Mr. Philip Abotsi, a youth activist, expressed disappointment with the former IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for failing to take decisive action against the officers involved.

“I can’t tell why the immediate past IGP was not able to launch a thorough investigation into our brother’s death. I urge our youth leaders to petition the new IGP to handle this alleged murder case. I believe the new IGP is capable,” he said.
