Ms Victoria Yaotse, 2 others win National Reading Festival for Volta
The Volta Regional contender at the just ended National reading festival, Ms Victoria Yaotse has been adjudged the winner for the 2022 national competition.
She is a basic Two (2) pupil of Sokode Gbogame MA Primary school in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region.
Ms Victoria was among the five (5) contenders from her school who represented the Ho Municipality at the regional competition after they exhibited a sterling performance at the Circuit competition held at Ho Dome E. P. basic school.
Victoria placed second at the regional competition behind her North Tongu contender Samelia Mekporsigbe held at Ola Senior High School on August 5 this year but came strongly to win the national competition to place Volta Region at the top leaving behind the rest fifteen (15) administrative regions in the Country.
The Reading Festival is an United States Agency for International Development (USAID) learning initiative with partnership from the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service to enhance and encourage reading habit among pupils in public basic schools.
The initiative also targets pupil at the early ages in public schools as a measure to ensure quality basic education.
This year’s National competition was held at the Nana Akufo Addo public library in Frafraha, Accra on September 18 2022.
As part of the programme, competitors were taken through activities such as reading, spelling Words formations and comprehension where Volta contenders placed 1st, 5th and 6th respectively to accumulate a maximum point for the region’s s victory.
On Friday, September 9, 2022, the Ho Municipal Education Director Mr. Godwin Amelor led Ms Victoria Yaotse and Master Darlington Darkey another contender to pay homage to the Agbogbomefia of Asorgli State at the State Palace as they celebrate this year’s Yam Festival.
