Battor: Man in police custody for allegedly killing 60-year-old

Tetteh Ofoe has been arrested for allegedly killing and dumping a 60-year-old man into a latrine. 

He is currently in police custody in Battor in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.

According to the public relations officer of the police in the region, DSP Effia Tenge, said “someone visited his toilet in his house at dawn (Tuesday, 23 November 2021) and smelt some bad odour and went for a flashlight to check” only to see the said dead body in the pit.

The police say preliminary investigations revealed that a cutlass found in suspect Ofoe’s room has a bloodstain hence his arrest to assist in investigations. 

Meanwhile, the body which is almost decomposing was collected and deposited at Battor Catholic Hospital for autopsy.

Recent murders in the Volta Region

Incidents of murder cases in the Volta Region recorded a wavy trend this year. Although the comparative analysis of crime statistics for the year is unknown, killings seem to be increasing in the region. 

Recently the Volta Regional Police Command arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged murder of a 30-year-old man. 

The police named the suspects as Kalefe Korku aged 42, Afedo Kpotor 21, and Ametoke Sitsofe aged 27.

Also, on Monday (22 November) the police received information from Ho-Fiave that the suspect identified as Frank murdered his girlfriend and kept her in his refrigerator

Report of a gruesome murder of a 12-year-old boy on Sunday evening, 29 August in the Volta Region, upped the tally of bizarre killings.
