Kadjebi traditional authority hands over site for construction of lorry park

The traditional authority in the Kadjebi district of the Oti region has handed over some plots of land to Kadjebi district assembly for the construction of a lorry park.

The Kadjebi District Assembly has, this year, received funds from the government of Ghana as part of the district common fund responsiveness factor grant allocation towards the cost of ongoing construction works in the district.

However, the Assembly applied part of the funds to cover payments for the construction of phase I of the new lorry station sited at kadjebi along Jasikan – Dodi Papasi stretch of the Eastern corridor road.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Wilson Agbanyo stressed on the need to move the current lorry station from its current location to a wider space.

According to him, the current location of their lorry station serves as a death trap for both drivers and pedestrians especially users of the Kadjebi-Asato road adding that, this does not befit the status of a district’s lorry park.

The DCE disclosed to the reporter that, the five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc500,000.00) project is expected to be completed within six months.

He further revealed that, the Assembly is also embarking on this project to help improve upon its revenue mobilization drive as well as socioeconomic conditions of the district.

The project comprises 2 waiting lounges for 20-30 passengers, 2 ticketing booths, 600square/meters pavements, 20-seater WC toilet, 2 urinals, 1 security Post and fence wall.
