Residents of Ho in the Volta Region have been thrown into a state of shock after a lady believed to be in her mid-twenties was found dead in a hotel room.
Reports indicate that Joy Dordorye, the boyfriend of the deceased, reportedly inflicted knife wounds on Harriet Kafui Ahiati (deceased) and attempted to commit suicide.
26-year-old Joy Dordoye is said to have slit his girlfriend’s throat and tried hanging himself after the incident.
After failing in hanging himself, he resorted to stabbing himself multiple times.
Eyewitnesses say they heard the cries of the suspect calling for help.
The witnesses upon entering the room, saw the lady lying in a pool of blood. Also, the ceiling fan, from which he tried to hang himself had fallen from the ceiling.
The witnesses say, “although he tried committing suicide through different means, they found him alive with his stomach opened after stabbing himself”.
Mr Dordorye is currently receiving treatment at the Volta Regional Hospital after he was arrested by the Ho Municipal Police command.
The incident happened at about 10:00 pm on Monday night but was only discovered close to midnight.
The mother of the deceased said she woke up to calls informing her of the unfortunate incident.
She confirmed that the suspect is her daughter’s boyfriend, and has been dating her for a long time.
This incident comes less than a month after a lady was alleged to have been murdered by her boyfriend after she was assaulted by him.
