NHIS Supports Flood Victims in Keta Municipality with Relief Items

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has provided relief support to victims of the recent flooding in the Keta Municipality, donating essential items and financial assistance to help affected communities recover.

The donation was initiated by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, Dr. Senanu Kwesi Dzokoto. In his absence, the items were presented by the Keta NHIS Municipal Director, Mr. Prosper Sevor, who reaffirmed Dr. Dzokoto’s commitment to the welfare of residents affected by the floods.

Mr. Sevor also appealed to corporate organisations, institutions, and philanthropists to support ongoing relief efforts to ease the hardship faced by victims.

The relief package was officially handed over to the Keta Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Dzokoto and the NHIS for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention.

According to NADMO, the support will benefit 30 flood-affected communities across the municipality, including Seva, Anyako, Horvi, Kedzikope, and several others.

The donation includes 500 pairs of Wellington boots to assist residents in navigating flooded areas, GHS20,000 to support NADMO’s transportation and logistics operations, GHS10,000 to facilitate free NHIS registration for affected residents, and GHS15,000 to the Ghana Health Service to aid the treatment and prevention of water-borne diseases.

The first phase of the distribution exercise began at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Mr. Deynu assured residents that all 30 affected communities would receive their share of the relief items in the coming days as authorities continue efforts to provide assistance and restore normalcy to the municipality.
