Akatsi North district finally endorse third DCE nominee

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s third nominee for the Akatsi North District Assembly, Mr. Ofosu Simon Peter, has been approved by Assembly Members.

Mr. Ofosu won the polls after the first two nominees, Paul Ayrah and Prosper Patu, were earlier rejected by the members of the assembly.

Out of a total of eighteen (18) Assembly Members present, he pulled thirteen (13) YES with four (4) NO and one (1) rejected ballot making him fully confirmed and sworn into office.

The newly confirmed Mr Ofosu Simon Peter is a teacher by profession.

He will now take over from Dr. Prince Sodoke who served in office as the DCE for Akatsi North during the first term of president Akuffo Addo.

Mr. Ofosu Simon Peter’s nomination was in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) as amended.

Out of the 18 Municipal and District Assemblies (MDA’s) in the Volta region, a total of 16 have had their confirmations done successfully leaving Akatsi North and Adaklu district.

In the Adaklu district, the immediate past Mr Phanuel Donkor and Bright Nyatsikor could not win the hearts of the members of the assembly to be approved however, Mr. Prosper Patu and Mr. Paul Ayrah were also rejected on two different occasions by assembly member in the Akatsi North district .

Even though the Akatsi north district have their nominee confirmed, the Adaklu district could still not confirm their third nominee.
