HO: One feared dead, others severely injured on Stadium-Ahoe road

A boy believed to be 10 years old is reported dead while several others sustained various degrees of injuries when a tricycle they were onboard ran into a decoration shop and barbering salon in the Volta regional capital, Ho.

The incident occurred on the Stadium-Ahoe road today, Sunday, July 17, 2022 at about 4:30 am.

According to an eye witness, the victims who are believed to be Fulanis from Mafi Tevikpo onboard a blue tricycle with registration number M-22-VR2328 were returning from a program believed to be part of the just ended salah celebration at Centre for National Culture when the accident occurred.

The 10-year-old boy died on the spot while other victims are currently receiving treatment at the Ho Teaching Hospital.

Speaking to the media on the incident, Mr Godsway Glala, a resident of the area called on authorities to construct speed ramps on the Stadium-Ahoe road to avert any further occurrence of such nature.

He observed that, drivers and riders do not drive with caution on this particular stretch of the road thereby causing a lot of accidents.

Mr. Glala noted that, this is not the first time an accident of this kind is happening on the stadium-Ahoe road.

He further narrated that, on Saturday, July 16, 2022 a day before this particular accident, a boy was knocked down by a tricycle around the same spot adding that, he is also receiving treatment at the hospital currently.

Police have however commenced investigations into the incident.
