Keta Municipal: Notorious Armed Robbery Gang Busted At Anlo Afiadenyigba

Reports reaching Sandcity Radio’s news desk indicate that there was a robbery incident at Anlo Afiadenyigba last night and the robbers have been arrested.

Ghana Police service confirmed that “Five armed robbers were arrested yesterday at about 11:30pm at Afiadenyigba in the Volta region by a joint team of police officers and residents of the town. They attacked a shop and shot into a vehicle. No casualty was recorded. Full update will be shared with the public in due course. Police-community partnership is the master key to crime fighting.”

Evidence made available to Sandcity Radio indicates the vehicle the robbers shot into has the registration number GW 937-21. Reports specify that Hon. Dzudzorli Gakpey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta Constituency was the one driving this vehicle when the robbers shot into the bonnet of the vehicle a few inches away from the driver side of the windscreen. The vehicle has since been packed at the Anlo Afiadenyigba Police station for investigations.

Reports also indicate that these suspects went to rob the C.E.O. of SVV Lotto Company, Mr. Azi popularly known as Sedacco who is also a resident of Anlo-Afiadenyigba. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from his residence after the robbers broke into his room and forced open one of the doors to his room.

Few weeks ago, Seddacco was robbed by some robbers from Akatsi but were also arrested and assisting police in their investigations.

 Sandcity Radio has identified only one of the suspects as Eric Lumor popularly known as “dumevinyuiwodzenunya” at Vui-Tettekope, in the Keta Municipality but measures are underway to disclose all the names of these suspects.

Hon. Gilbert Keklie, Assembly Member for Anlo Afiadenyigba Dziehe-Ablorme has disclosed that he will work tirelessly to get other culprits arrested.

It will be recalled that on 9th August this year, some unknown robbers raided the Royal Energy-MakOlives gas filling station at Tegbi-Xekpa and took away the vault containing an undisclosed amount of money and also killed the security officer, Edem Kpodogah. Police are still investigating the incident.

It can be recalled again that some unknown robbers broke into the Shell filling station at Tegbi-Ashiata also taking away an undisclosed amount of money with no casualties recorded. Police said that they are investigating the incident.

Reports indicate the robbers were taken to the Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service in Ho for investigations but were being returned to Keta for more investigations.
