
Chiefs and people of Anlo gearing up for Mini-Hogbetsotso at Mafi Adidome
The Chiefs and people of Anlo in the Volta Region are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for the upcoming Mini -Hogbetsotso festival which will be hosted in Mafi Adidome in North Tongu district.
The upcoming festival, which is a mini version of the grand Hogbetsotso festival celebrated in Anlo, is expected to bring together Anlo citizens from all walks of life.
The Hogbetsotso festival is a significant cultural event in the Anloland, which commemorates the migration of the Anlo people from Notsie in Togo under Torgbui Agorkorli, to their present homeland in Ghana and marked an important moment for the people of Anlo to reflect on their history, culture, and traditions.
The Mini Hogbetsotso festival in North Tongu promised to be an exciting event, with various activities planned to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Anlo people which would feature traditional drumming and dancing, as well as showcasing of traditional artifacts and crafts of the area.
According to the programme outlined for this year’s Hogbetsotso, released by the festival’s planning committee, and sighted by the Ghana News Agency, revealed that the Mini-Hogbetsotso would be organised by Anlo Dukor council in collaboration with Mafi Traditional Council and Ghana Exim Bank.

It said the Mini-Hogbetsotso festival was an excellent opportunity for the youth of Anlo to learn about their cultural heritage and tradition, while it provided a platform for them to demonstrate their talents and creativity, and to connect with their roots.
The festival is also expected to provide a platform and opportunity for various communities to come together, unite, plan, and celebrate their shared identity and tradition together for a common goal of development.
The organisers promised that the event would be an exciting programme with something special for everyone and appealed to the public to come out in their numbers to support and celebrate the event.
Mr Raymond Kumatsey, a citizen of Anlo, told the Ghana News Agency, that the Mini-Hogbetsotso festival was a significant event in the cultural calendar of the Anlo people, which was celebrated to honour the history, culture, and traditions, and to provides an opportunity for the community of Anlo to reflect on their shared identity and responsibilities.
“The festival is also expected to have a positive impact on our local economy. The influx of visitors is expected to boost business in the area, and local artisans and traders are preparing to showcase their wares as the days draw closer,” he said.
He explained that the upcoming Mini-Hogbetsotso festival in North Tongu promised to be an exciting event that would provide the opportunity for the communities in the area to come together and celebrate and for visitors to experience the unique culture of the Anlo people.
The festival is expected to attract a large crowd with local organisers making sure that everything has been put in place to accommodate the expected influx of visitors, chiefs and dignitaries.
Some dignitaries expected to grace the festival will include Togbi Sri lll, Awoamefia of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Agbesi Awusu ll, Awadada of Anlo, Mama Wotorbe ll, President Anlo Queens Council, Togbe Asafo Buatri IV, President of Mafi Traditional council, Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyemang V, Dufia of Adidome, Mama Sename lll, Paramount Queenmother of Mafi Traditional Area, stakeholders, heads of institutions, among others.
The Mini-Hogbetsotso festival will be celebrated on Friday, October 25 on the theme,” Building Bridges: From common history to a common destiny, “with the main Hogbetsotso festival on Saturday, November 1, at Anlo Hogbe Park in Anloga.
