
Drivers and commuters praise Keta MCE for road patching initiative
Commuters and drivers on the Keta-Havedzi road, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road patching efforts championed by Mr Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area.
The road, which had been in a deplorable state, has seen significant improvements since the MCE initiated the patching works and has reduced the level of unexpected accidents on the road.
Mr Eugene Dzimabi, a taxi driver at Havedzi, told the Ghana News Agency that many drivers in Keta, Havedzi, Vodza, Kedzi and the surrounding areas had been vocal about their appreciation for the efforts being made to improve the road network.
“This is a welcome relief, the road is becoming impassable, and it is great to see the MCE taking the steps to address the issue by initiating the road patching practices,” he said.
He said that other drivers who ply the route daily had all lauded the efforts, stating that the patching works had made a huge significant difference in reducing travel time and damages on their vehicles, while struggles with potholes and rough terrain for so long, had been reduced because of the improvement.
Mr Dzamabi said that the Keta Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of MCE Seade, had been working tirelessly to address the infrastructure challenges facing the municipality and the patching of the Keta-Havedzi road, among others was part of a larger effort to improve the overall road network in the area.
“We are very happy about the proactive approach by the MCE to address the needs of the community especially the road, he is listening to the people and taking action, and that is what we need, leaders who are committed to making a difference,” he said.
Madam Peace Ama Agbelenugor, a commuter, said the improvements to the Keta-Havedzi road is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, with increased access to markets and services.
She emphasised that the road was a vital link between Keta and surrounding communities, and the patching works would undoubtedly bring relief to many who usually use it on daily basis.
She stated that other information gathered indicated that the MCE has also been working to engage with stakeholders and promote development in the municipality with his recent called for capacity-building programmes for assembly members to enhance local governance and foster effective development.
Meanwhile, many commuters in Keta are hopeful that the ongoing efforts would lead to sustainable improvements in their quality of life with many residents, calling for collaboration with the stakeholders for the progress of the Municipality.
The Keta Municipal Assembly is also committed to continuing its efforts to improve the lives of residents and the patching of the Keta-Havedzi road was described to be the beginning with other plans to address more pressing issues in the municipality.
The communities are also rallying behind the MCE, with the sense of optimism about brighter future while some said that the improvements of the Keta-Havedzi road was a testament to what could be achieved with effective leadership and community engagement.
