The newborn baby was found dead at a public dumping site in Ho Dome in the Volta Region.
A newborn baby found in a carton at a public dumping site in Ho Dome has died.
The body was discovered by residents who went to dispose of their waste in the early hours of Monday (26 December 2021).
Assemblyman for the area, George Megbenu told Asaase News the body has since been deposited at the Ho Teaching Hospital morgue.
Magbenu said the suspect who dumped the baby could likely not be from Ho Dome and its surrounding communities.
He is appealing to residents in and around Ho to report to the nearest police station if they spot the suspect.
Meanwhile, residents in the area have also complained of the assembly’s inability to frequently dispatch the waste to a permanent waste site, adding that their health is at risk and have called on authorities to relocate the site.
