Togbe Sei II “rejected” as paramount chief of Botoku

Some people of Botoku in the North Dayi District of the Volta region have rejected Togbe Sei II as paramount chief of Botoku after it has emerged that, the Regional House of Chiefs is set to inaugurate the said chief as the paramount chief of the Botoku traditional area.

In a press statement, the people have alleged the decision by the regional house of chiefs to impose on them Togbe Sei II known in private life as Nelson Gbadagba as their paramount chief.

They however described the decision by the regional house of chiefs as surprising to inaugurate the chief in question whose legitimacy is been challenge as a member of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs as a paramount chief.

The convener Togbe Atakra VII, the Mankrado and representative of the paramountcy further stated that, Nelson Gbadagba would not be recognized as the paramount chief of the area.

“The original stool name is “Tamtia” not “Sei” and there is no name like “Togbe Sei” in their paramountcy”. Togbe Atakraw the Mankrado stated.

” We the people of Botoku are law abiding citizens and will not take any kind of interference or involvement from whoever in our chieftaincy matters”, they added.
