Volta Regional Minister, Togbe Afede lead investors for Hohoe Cocoa Factory site inspection

Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister and Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, have led investors to inspect suitable sites for the establishment of a Cocoa Processing Factory.  

The construction of the factory, which is expected to commence in 2026, will operate 24-hours after completion.  

Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, said they led a team of Chinese investors as part of ongoing discussions to establish a cocoa processing factory in Hohoe.

He highlighted the importance of sustainability and shared plans to complement the factory with large-scale cocoa farming to ensure a reliable supply of raw materials.  

Mr Gunu said government was resolved to make Hohoe a thriving agro-industrial hub and unlocking the economic potential of the Volta Region.

He said the factory if completed would boost jobs, curb smuggling and drive Volta’s industrial growth. 

Mr Wisdom Dogbe, Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company, said the establishment of a factory in the Region was a manifesto commitment.

He said when completed, the factory was expected to significantly reduce cocoa smuggling along the Hohoe stretch. 

Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Hohoe Member of Parliament (MP), said as an MP, he was committed to doing the best for constituents.
