The Electoral Commission of Ghana has told the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it will not release serial numbers of BVRS deployed for the ongoing, limited voter Registration to them.
According to the Commission, serial numbers play a significant role in the operation of the devices, particularly the generation of activation codes.
Therefore, releasing these serial numbers to any third party will be a risk to the security and integrity of the registration process.
The indicated that the security risk is the reason why serial numbers have over the years not been released to any political party since Ghana started using the biometric machines.
