Nkwanta Residents Call on Gov’t To Fix Collapsing Bridge

Residents in the Nkwanta South Municipality of Oti the Region, are calling for the immediate repair of a broken metal bridge that links the municipal capital to other adjoining communities.

They described the state of the bridge as a disaster in waiting, which requires prompt action from government.

Some traders who ply the route also lamented, the situation has forced vehicles to abandoned the bridge and use longer alternative routes at a higher fare, hence increasing the cost of doing business.

They added that, several complaints to the authorities to fix the bridge, went unheeded.

In a response, the Nkwanta South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), John Thasun said efforts are being made to get the bridge fix as the situation was becoming devastating.

He urged residents to exercise restraint as the assembly was liaising together with ministry of roads and highways to fix the situation.
