Akatsi South MUSEC postpones meeting with NPP Constituency Executives

A scheduled meeting with Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akatsi South Constituency, has been postponed.  

The meeting, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, would now be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:00 hours at the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Hall.  

In a statement issued by Mr Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the rescheduling had become necessary because of his official engagement in Ho on the earlier date.

It said all other arrangements regarding the meeting remained unchanged.  

The statement urged all constituency executives to attend the meeting with their respective branch registers, to assist the Ghana Police Service in ongoing investigations.  

The statement noted that attendance  remained compulsory, and appealed to members to cooperate in efforts to maintain peace and security within the Municipality.  

Copies of the statement were forwarded to the Municipal Police Commander, all MUSEC members, and the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly.

However, the Volta Regional Secretariat of the NPP in an earlier response,  indicated that it had activated the party’s internal mechanisms to address concerns arising from the ongoing membership registration exercise in the constituency.  

It, however, acknowledged the role of the Police in investigating acts that might threaten public peace but stressed that party documentation and internal processes must be respected.

The statement therefore directed that no party officer in Akatsi South should honour the invitation to the MUSEC meeting.  

MUSEC, in their statement, cited disturbances including attacks at a residence at Asafotsi and at the Lord’s Pentecostal Church International, which it said, the melee had been linked to some supporters of the NPP alleged to have been issues with the party’s ongoing membership registration exercise
