On Tuesday, August 17, President Akufo-Addo launched the Agenda 111 project.
The project will include the design, procurement, construction, equipping, and commissioning of 101 District Hospitals, 6 Regional Hospitals in newly established regions, 1 Regional Hospital in the Western Region, 2 Psychiatric Hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale, and a redeveloped Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
The project’s goal is to ensure that Ghanaians across the country have access to high-quality healthcare services, and it will work in tandem with the National Health Insurance Scheme to improve healthcare infrastructure and financial accessibility.
Doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel will be housed in the hospitals that will be built.
According to the Agenda 111 detailed document, Ghanaians will have access to four state-of-the-art surgical theatres for maternity, obstetrics, and gynecology, as well as a full complement of male, female, pediatric, and isolation wards.
When completed, the project will be the “largest investment in Healthcare infrastructure in the country since independence,” according to the government.
