DCOP Opare Addo’s removal: National Security descended low, says Adib Saani

The security expert wants National Security to render an unqualified apology for its actions against the Ashanti Regional security liaison officer

Adib Saani, a security expert, has said that National Security operatives sank very low in the process of removing DCOP (rtd) Yaw Opare Addo from office as Ashanti Regional security liaison officer.

Speaking to Kwaku Agyeman-Budu on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (19 May), Saani said the removal of the regional liaison officer could have been handled in a more civilised manner.

“It is quite distressing and I am particularly surprised that National Security – which should know better, which is supposed to advance the security of the state, spearhead the fight for respect for the rule of law, the respect for the fundamental rights of the people – will descend so low in terminating the appointment of a colleague in that fashion,” he said.

“If for nothing at all, I think that DCOP Yaw Opare Addo deserves at least some respect even if you didn’t want to work with him any longer,” Saani said.

The security expert said Opare Addo deserves an apology.

“For them to kick him out in that manner is something I find unfortunate and quite distressing. The National Security Co-ordinator and his team owe us an apology, because in the past few weeks, the national security has been in the news for the wrong reasons,” Saani said.
