
Flood victims at Lawoshieme electoral area receive relief items
Over 300 ood affected victims in the Lawoshime Electoral Area in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have received relief items from the Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) towards alleviating their plights and challenges.
The relief items donated to victims at Lawoshime, Agorvinu, Hagodzi, Mamime, Songbe among others included bags of rice, box of cooking oil, and mosquito nets and others.
Mr. Wonder Setsoaa Deynu, the NADMO Director at Keta, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the oods that occurred between May and June 2025 had a devastating impact on the communities within the Lawoshime Electoral Area.
“Many residents lost their homes, livelihoods, and property, leaving them in dire need of assistance and our support is to give back hope to the affected victims,” he said.
He explained that the donation was made possible through the efforts and support by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Wisdom Seade.
“We are playing a critical role in disaster management on our communities here since we are responsible for providing relief items to communities
affected by disasters and supporting them in their recovery efforts.”
He said that the way forward required continued support and assistance to communities affected by disasters and the government, NADMO, and other stakeholders need to work together to provide sustainable solutions to prevent subsequent disasters and challenges faced by the communities.
Mr. Israel Mensah, the Assembly Member of the area, who received the donation on behalf of the communities, expressed gratitude to the donors.
He said the relief items had brought hope to many residents, and strengthened the bonds between the communities, the assembly and NADMO.
He said the donations to the Lawoshime Electoral Area has demonstrated the commitment of the government and NADMO to supporting communities affected by disasters.
Many residents GNA interested with have expressed their deepest appreciation for the support.
The communities within the Lawoshime Electoral Area have further appealed to the government to help solve other pressing challenges, including roads, electricity, water, health centre, among other social amenities to help improve the lives of the residents.
They also appreciated the Member of Parliament, Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the MCE, NADMO and other individuals for their efforts in lobbying
for the relief items.
