“I’m Not Running Independently” – Afenyo-Markin Denies Rumours, Backs Women Empowerment

Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has firmly denied widespread rumours suggesting he is planning to contest the upcoming elections as an independent candidate.

Speaking to the media on Thursday at Tsiame, Afenyo-Markin described the claims as false and politically motivated, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“I am not running independently,” he said. “I remain loyal to the NPP, and together we are focused on delivering impactful governance and development.”

Addressing supporters and constituents, Afenyo-Markin shifted focus to a pressing national issue—women empowerment.

He emphasized that Ghana’s sustainable development depends on increasing female participation in politics, education, and leadership roles.
