MCE condemns Ehi violence, assures swift security intervention
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, Reverend Martin Amenaki, has condemned the recent violent incident at Ehi and assured the public of swift and decisive security action to restore order.
Responding to a distress call late Monday night, Rev. Amenaki said he assessed the situation firsthand.
Early Tuesday morning, he led a team comprising the Municipal Police Commander, the Crime Officer, a BNI Officer, and other senior security officials to the affected community.
The delegation first paid a courtesy call on the Dufia of Ehi, Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, and his elders, who expressed deep concern about the incident and pledged their full cooperation with the police to ensure peace and support ongoing investigations.
Accompanied by the traditional leaders, the MCE inspected the extent of damage to the Ehi Police Station and later visited injured police officers and civilians to ensure they received adequate medical attention and support.
Rev. Amenaki described the engagements as “productive,” noting that both the traditional authorities and security agencies were aligned in their commitment to restoring normalcy.
He confirmed that calm had since been restored, with security presence reinforced to avert further disturbances.
The Volta Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr. Wisdom Akorli also arrived later in the day to provide additional backing to local law enforcement.
He condemned the violence in strong terms, stressing that such acts were unacceptable and tarnished the reputation of the Ketu North Municipality.
Rev. Amenaki assured residents that the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), working closely with the police, would ensure justice is served and that all victims receive the necessary care.
“We sympathize with the victims and encourage everyone to remain law-abiding as we continue to protect the peace that defines our beloved Municipality,” he said.
