Mother at 56 delivers twins, urges barren women to be patient
Adorgu, who had been barren for decades and had several failed attempts to give birth, has encouraged barren women to do their part and not to give up.
Victoria Adorgu, a Ghanaian woman aged 56, may be the oldest new mother in Ghana after delivering twins through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) at the LEKMA Hospital in Accra.
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.
The tearful Adorgu, who had been vilified and called names for being barren, told Accra-based TV3 that God is still in the miracle business, adding that those who face difficulty having children should be patient and wait on the Lord.
“Thanks to Jesus and those who are praying for me, thanks … I am now called a mother …God has done a big thing for me. I encourage those who didn’t have. They should pray: a time will come … just one day God will do it.
“I pray for others. A lot of people, they should have the belief that God will do a miracle for them. I am now called a mother, [at] 56 years, and I have tried, tried, and prayed, and God has done a miracle,” Adorgu said.
