The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) stronghold, the Ashanti Region, is set to host the official unveiling of Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
This announcement was made by Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, the National Organiser of the NPP, in a recent Facebook post.
In the coming days, the NPP is expected to provide specifics of the event where Dr Opoku Prempeh will be formally introduced as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, including details on the date, time, venue, and other pertinent information.
“Ashanti Region to host the official outdooring ceremony of the running mate to the next President Bawumia,” Nana B posted.
On Monday, 1 July 2024, Dr Bawumia informed the national executives of the party of his choice of running mate. The party has scheduled an emergency meeting on July 4 to finalize the running mate selection.
The meeting, called by National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim, will follow separate meetings of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council and is expected to make a decisive decision on the matter.
