Residents of Abutia Avetakpo appealed to Government for developmental intervention

The people of Abutia Avetakpo in the Ho West District of the Volta Region held a town hall meeting to deliver the challenges facing the community.

This followed several years of the neglect of the community’s development by the various local authorities.

Mr Jonas Tornye, the youth leader of the community, mentioned that the Ho West District Assembly has neglected for many years past and it has taken a toll on the enclave.

“Our educational facilities, agriculture, amongst others are in limbo. But the relevant authorities are yet to help us recover,” he indicated.

He stated that about seven other communities in the district are going through similar challenges.

Mr Tornye said that a delegation from Togbe Amedor III, the Chief of Avetakpo went to the District chief Executive (DCE), Mr Ernest Appau to disclose their challenges but nothing was done to remedy the plight of the community.

Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Ho West Constituency, has built a CHIPS compound for the community but it was abandoned for the past 16 years.

Some of their challenges were about their road, health facility, water and electricity.

The people of Abutia Avetakpo said they would not be under Ho West and partake in the upcoming elections if the government did not address their issue.
