A letter written by the Presiding Member of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly dated 14th September, 2022 indicates that Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe has resigned from his position as the Presiding Member of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly.
He indicated in the letter “In accordance with Order 11 of the Model Standing Orders of MMDAs, I am resigning my position because of reasons personally known to me effective Thursday

I proceed to thank the Hon. MCE, the members of staff and all my colleague Hon.
Assembly Members for giving me the needed support during my tenure as the Presiding Member of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly.
I also assure you of my willingness to continue working with all and sundry to bring more development to Akatsi South Municipality as I remain an Hon. Member of the Assembly”.
Not long ago Some members of the Akatsi South Municipality had triggered a move which intended to pass a vote of no confidence in Mr Yao Thomas Atidepe, the presiding member from office.
This move by the members of the Akatsi South Municipality is because it has been alleged among others that Mr. Atidepe the presiding member has failed to consult or brief members before performing some official duties. He also goes ahead to defy the oath of secrecy he took when he was sworn into office by divulging official issues into the public domain.
These details or information was in a request letter signed by some aggrieved members calling for an emergency meeting to take place in order to pass a vote of no confidence to remove the presiding member from office.
