Bekwai: Two suspects break cell

Police have launched a manhunt for Emmanuel Arkah, 24, and Nana Antwi, 22, for escaping from cell at the Bekwa Police Station

Two suspects have escaped from police custody in the Ashanti Region, law enforcement agents have confirmed.

The police have since launched a manhunt for the two.

The fugitives Emmanuel Arkah, 24, and Nana Antwi, 22, were being held for committing various offences pending court appearance.

According to Asaase News police sources, the suspects escaped from cell at the Bekwai District Police Station on Friday 5 March around 7.30pm.

They were said to have pushed down the metal gate and escaped while on-duty officers joined some labourers to hold a cleaning exercise.

The Bekwai police command have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the break-out.
