The former President of Ghana and flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says he has learned on the job and will make a very good president if voted for.
According to him, he had the opportunity to learn from the best and that puts him at par with any of his competitors.
Apart from learning on the job, he has reflected while in opposition and has realized what he could have done right.
He believes that if he’s given the nod, he understands the Ghanaian system and will find it easy to work on what the country needs to do to turn around its fortunes.
“I had the experience, there is no school where you go and pay school fees and enroll and say I want to learn how to be president. You have to learn on the job and luckily for me, I got the experience of working with an honest and one of the best presidents we have had in Ghana, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills,” he said while speaking to a charged crowd.
On reflection, I’ve been out of office for eight years. It gives me the opportunity to look back and look at some of the things that we could have done better. Not everybody gets that opportunity to go out of office and get the opportunity to come back again.
So I know that in the four years coming, I will be a much better president than even the first time I was President. One because of the experience that I’ve been president before and two because I have had the opportunity to reflect on my period of time as president and it gives me a focus on the things we need to do to turn our fortunes around as quickly as possible,” he said.
