Let’s preserve our culture and tradition – Torgbega Xedixoh Hlitabo tells Agave State residents

The Paramount Chief and people of Agave Traditional Area have celebrated their annual purification rituals with a call on the residents to uphold the culture and traditions of the Agave State.

The Paramount Chief, Torgbegah Xedihor Hlitabo IV who supervised the purification rites noted that it was good to preserve the traditions of the land without any adulteration. 

Torgbegah Xedihor Hlitabo IV said the ancient history, traditions and culture of their ancestors will forever remain sacred and part of them.

He added that without the sacred traditions of the Agave area, things wouldn’t have been good for them.

The Paramount Chief, therefore, urged the residents not to be deceived by anyone or group of people to have their traditions and culture modified to suit their needs.

He noted that there are plans to have byelaws to govern the Agave State to ensure that they uphold their values and maintain peace and order always.

“Do not be deceived by anyone for our traditions to be modified in any way, we must always strive to preserve our traditions and culture,” he said.

He noted that every year, a ban is placed on drumming as part of the rituals which has always been preserved by the people.

The Fiaga notes that there is a need for development in the Agave State which will be addressed urgently to the benefit of everyone. 

He assured that he will make sure that during his reign, there is massive transformation in the area. He urged the residents to be united and work hard for the needed development.

In his welcome address, the event’s chairman, Seth Dorgbor, expressed regret that the Agave roads has been deplorable for decades, causing great concern among residents.

He hopes that something is done about their situation as early as possible to help them economically, as roads open doors to businesses.
