One student died, several others in critical condition after fatal accident on Eastern corridor road

An accident on the Eastern corridor road involving a Ford Transit vehicle with the registration number GT5814-13 has claimed a life of one student of Kasec and leaving sixteen (16) other passengers in critical condition .

The vehicle was said to have been transporting passengers from Kpassa in the Nkwanta North municipality of the Oti region to Hohoe when the incident occurred at Fankyenekor, a town in the Nkwanta South Municipality on Wednesday February 23 ,2022.

The 16 persons including 9 male, 7 female and less than a year-old-child sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Nkwanta South Municipal and St Joseph’s hospitals in Nkwanta for treatment.

Some of the residents at the scene said, the vehicle which was fully loaded with passengers and some goods somersaulted at the outskirts of the Fankyenekor community, adding that, the driver was on high speed which made him lose control leading to this deadly accident.

The incident have since been reported to the Nkwanta South Municipal police command who are yet to launch investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the accident at the time of filing this report.
