Asogli State Chiefs oppose government’s proposal to rename Ho Technical University

The Asogli State Council has objected to the attempt to rename the Ho Technical University (HTU) after Dr Ebphraim Amu.

This followed several attempts made by the government to initiate same course.

The members of the Asogli State Council, through a presser, signed by Mr Stephen Tetteh, the Secretary of the Council and copied to His Excellency Nana Akuffo-Addo, the President of the country, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr C.K Amexo, the Registrar of the HTU amongst others, expressed their unanimous disapproval of the decision to rename the University.

“The Asogli State Council wishes to remind the authorities of Ho Technical University that, the major decisions affecting the university should be made in consultation with relevant stakeholders to avoid conflict and unnecessary confrontation,” the presser indicated.

The members of the Council also mentioned that “We do not understand the motive behind the rush to rename the Ho Technical University and can not see any serious justification for such a move other than for political expediency.”

They reiterated their total objections and stressed that the name of the institute remained Ho technical university.

Togbe Adzilakle Howusu III, the Chief of Ho Dome, who doubles as the Warlord of Asogli State, presented the petition Mr Amexo.

He mentioned that government should engage them since they played vital roles in instituting the University.

Mr Amexo received the petition and gave the assurance that the HTU would revert.
