Relief Support for Volta Region Flood Cleanup
Heavy rainfall in the Volta Region recently resulted in severe flooding, leaving many homes uninhabitable and rendering numerous residents homeless. With the opening of floodgates, water levels have now receded substantially.
On Wednesday , July 8th, 2026, Lawyer Lom Nuku Ahlijah stepped in to support recovery efforts by donating essential cleanup items to affected communities. The donation aims to aid sanitation work and help prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
Speaking during the presentation, Lawyer Ahlijah noted that the support aligns with a government directive issued by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. He described the gesture as his personal contribution to the wellbeing of his people and “a way of giving back to my community as a son of the land.”
The items were received by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Seade, who will oversee distribution to the *seven zonal councils.
Donation Breakdown:
- 35 Cutlasses
- 35 Shovels
- 35 Spades
- 35 Pairs of Wellington Boots
- 35 Headpans
- 35 Pairs of Hand Gloves
- 7 Wheelbarrows
- 70 Brooms
Total: 287 items

In his remarks, Hon. Wisdom Seade called on individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to rise to the occasion and provide support where needed, rather than waiting for external aid.
Times like these remind us that rebuilding begins at home. When communities come together with even the little they have, big change follows. A clean environment protects lives, and collective action is often the strongest form of relief. It’s a call for all of us to play our part.
