Three people are reported missing in River Dayi at Sovie Kudzra in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region after a canoe they were travelling with capsided.
Sources revealed that on early hours of Saturday six people who were hired by a businessman to work on his farm behind the river got drowned when the canoe capsided which 3 of them swam whilst the other 3 are yet to be found.
According to some residents,the unfound 3 were hired by a businessman from Alavanyo Agome to labour for earns-meet before the untimely tragedy.
The residents further narrated that earlier
that day,the Chief of the community has decreed to his people to stay away from the spoilt canoe but one of the residents failed to heed to the Chief’s command and went ahead to set the people on the journey on the river before the untimely tragedy after the canoe capsided.
In a related development,3 people who happened to be relatives to the unfound persons have also involved in a fatal accident and one of the lost his life at a spot as the motorbike on which they were travelling on got hit by a vehicle when going after their people but the rest are currently receiving treatment.
