Biakoye DCE Calls For Calm Over Fear of COVID-19 Vaccine

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye district in the Oti Region, Comfort Akuea Atta, has advised residents to ignore the needles fear and report regarding the COVID-19 vaccine as she called on all to get vaccinated when the programme starts.

She said, the AstraZenca vaccine had been well examined by Ghana Health Services and government and was completely harmless, so residents should take advantage.

She indicated that it was important for Ghanaian residents to warmly embraced the vaccine to advert the spread of the new COVID-19

The DCE made this appeal when she visited churches in the district and distributed Personal Protection Equipment including sanitizers to encourage residents to continue adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols

She lamented about the low compliance of the wearing of the facial masks in the district which suggested to  authorities to arrest recalcitrant who will fail the directive from Monday 1st March 2021.

The parish priest of Nkonya- Ahenkro St. Anthony Catholic church, Rev. Father Anane Celestine, on behalf of churches in the district ,thanked the Biakoye district assembly, especially the DCE for the continuous support towards the fight against the virus in the area.

He assured that churches in the area will continue to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

He entreated church members to ignore fake report about the COVID-19 vaccine and get vaccinated against the spread of the virus.

However, some church members also thanked the DCE and assured that they would be ready to get themselves vaccinated against the virus to enable them have peace of mind.
