This is why Shatta Wale didn’t perform at the Hogbetsotso concert

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has provided an explanation for his decision not to take the stage at the Onua Festival Train Beach Rave performance on November 5, 2022, as part of the Hogbetsotso Festival.

The dancehall performer explained that the organizer broke their agreement in a Facebook Live broadcast.

He claims that they promised he wouldn’t do any radio interviews until he got to the Volta Region.

Though they had not yet been carried to his hotel room, he claimed the organizers wanted him to give a radio interview.

He claimed that after being threatened with being barred from the hotel room if the interview was not conducted, he became enraged and made the decision to leave for Accra once more.

According to an earlier statement from the organizers, “Shatta Wale, who had been scheduled to perform as the headline act and had consented to do so, having signed a contract with the marketers of Ebony Condoms and subsequently appeared on Onua Maakye with Captain Smart to confirm his participation at the event, was not available to perform.”

It’s interesting to note that despite arriving to the event venue in vehicles that the organizers had rented for him and his team, Shatta Wale was never located. The two management teams made every effort to persuade him to travel to the concert grounds and perform for the eager audience, but all attempts were in vain, they said.
