Volta remembers fallen veterans

The annual Veterans Remembrance Day ceremony and wreath-laying ceremony were observed by the various security services in the Volta region in Ho, which serves as the territory’s capital.

The occasion commemorates the 77th Veterans Day, a ceremony held to honor the efforts made by the nation’s veterans to the peace, stability, and advancement of the nation and the world.

Regional Commanders of the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Fire and Rescue Service, Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division, Ghana Prisons Service, and Ghana Armed Forces were present (GAF).

About 18 valiant warriors from the Veterans of Ghana (VAG), who served in the GAF and UN, as well as representatives from the security services, the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, and the general people were also present.

Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, laid a wreath on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana and the Ghanaian people. Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sarpong Appiah, the Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery, laid one on behalf of the Military. Ex-WO1 Jullius Kofi Amegbor, laid one on behalf of VAG.

The event was announced with a 21-gun salute and the blowing of the horn.
