Immigration Officers arrest hardened Togolese armed robbers

The suspect Immigration Officers led by Chief Superintendent Opoku Agyemang have arrested two suspected armed robbers at Africa; one of the unapproved duty posts in the Western North Region of Ghana.

According to information available to MyNewsGh.com, the Immigration officers On 6th September, 2021 at about 1545hr GMT, Officers and the
Command Patrol team on their normal Patrols duties received intelligence from two persons on a Motorbike that their unregistered Boxer motorbike
has been stolen at a gunpoint.

The Officers acting upon this intelligence laid ambush throughout the night after combing the adjoining villages within the operational area and per
the description earlier given saw the unregistered Boxer Motorbike being used by Emmanuel Kombat and therefore arrested him after a hot chase at
Africa.

Emmanuel Kombat in his written statement gave information on his accomplice Lala Mohammed who was later arrested by the Immigration Officers.

He disclosed that he entered Ghana illegally through an unapproved route in Bunkprugu Border Post in the Northern East Region in 2019 and went to
Suaboi to work at a galamsey site where he was making some money.
Emmanuel indicated that with time, he came into contact with one Abu Sunyani who introduced him and other twenty young men to armed robbery which he said was a very lucrative venture considering the fact that they stole motorbikes and robbed road users at places like Suaboi, Dadieso,Akatiso, Nkyensekokoo and other nearby communities of their cash and other valuables adding that the guns they used were bought from an Alhaji inCote D’ivoire.

Officers were able to retrieve one locally manufactured gun and three (3) cartridges from Lala Mohammed and one Boxer unregistered Motorbike
which was being used by Emmanuel Kombat at the time of his arrest, two phones (Infinix Android phone and Itel phone) at the time of the arrest.

After which they were handed over to the Juaboso District Police Command.
However, a mob from the communities who wanted to lynch the arrested suspects caused damage to vehicles belonging to the Ghana Immigration
Immigration Service.
