Chiefs and the people of Tanyigbe Traditional area in the Volta region have launched their annual Yam festival on Saturday July 30 2022.
According to the organizers, this year’s launch also formed part of the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the enstoolment of Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, Chief of Tanyigbe Traditional area.
The celebration which commenced on July 24 with a short church service had the grand launch on July 30.
The theme for this year’s celebration; “Empowering the Youth for Tanyigbe’s Transformation” aimed at mobilizing resources to build an ICT and skill development center for the youth in the community.
The grand durbar is scheduled to come off on September 3, 2022 at Tanyigbe EP Junior High School football field where citizens from home and abroad are expected to be in attendance as well as patrons from all parts of the country and beyond.
Mr. Adams Agbeko, a member of the festival planning committee -diaspora in an interview told IGNEWSS that technology is the way forward for survival hence the project of building ICT and skill development center.
He believed this project will be a motivation and as the world moves globally in ICT, the youth of Tanyigbe will be carried along since it is a need for everyone to adapt to the technological era.
Mr. Agbeko indicated that, there would be series of engagements with the youth to enable them understand the value of the project concept so they can also contribute their ideas towards the project execution.
Togbe Adeble V, the divisional chief of Tanyigbe Etoe entreated the youth to come out in their number since the theme for the festival is for their development.
Togbe Yao Adiko Mensah, Zikpuitor of Tanyigbe observed that, the festival over the years has brought about many achievement to the community including improvement on education, health and many others.
