2024 Elections: This is not the outcome we expected – NAPO

Running mate to the NPP Flagbearer in the 2024 elections, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reacted to the party’s loss and the outcome of the 2024 elections.

NAPO as he is affectionately known, in a statement on December 11 said the NPP did not expect to have lost the election by such huge margin but accept the decision taken by Ghanaians.

“The 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was not the outcome we, in the NPP, envisaged; but we respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people.

“To Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly and with humility we accept. We will work with you to get it right,” he stated.

The MP who retained his seat in the Manhyia South constituency noted that the party will regroup and reflect on its loss to decide on the way forward.

NAPO expressed gratitude to the party supporters and Dr. Bawumia for the honour given him to be his running mate for the 2024 elections.

“I have had extensive discussions with our flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to reflect on the outcome of the elections and, in good time, we shall reflect further as a political party on the causes of our 2024 election loss.

“I am grateful to HE the Vice-President for nominating me as his running mate, and to the NPP leadership for the overwhelming support I received,” he added.

Following the abysmal loss of the party in the elections, many have said the loss reflects the true verdict of Akufo-Addo’s governance by Ghanaians.

But Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is confident that the party will “emerge stronger, and bounce back to win the trust, confidence, support and affection of Ghanaians.”
