By-election: NPP holds primary in Ejisu 13 April

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set the stage for a parliamentary by-election in Ejisu with the announcement of key timelines and procedures.

The decision, approved by party officials, aims to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process.

According to the approved schedule, nominations for aspiring parliamentary candidates will open on Tuesday, 2 April  2024, and close on Thursday, 4 April 2024.

The main election is slated for Saturday, 13 April 2024.

Aspiring candidates are required to procure nomination forms after paying a non-refundable application fee of GHC 3,000.00.

Additionally, a non-refundable filing fee of GHC 35,000.00 must be paid to successfully file the nomination.

However, special considerations are in place for women, youth, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), who will enjoy a 50% rebate on the filing fees.

The Election Committee (EC), comprising notable individuals such as Danquah Smith Butey and Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has been tasked with overseeing the electoral process.

They will ensure adherence to the established rules and regulations governing the parliamentary primary election.

In a statement issued by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the NPP, it was emphasised that no individual would be denied access to purchase nomination forms, ensuring inclusivity in the electoral process.

This electoral process comes in the wake of the passing of Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, the late parliamentary representative of the party in Ejisu.
