Ghanaians in Israel are safe – Gov’t

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has dismissed reports that some Ghanaians were caught up in the crossfire between Israel and Hamas.

The Ministry stated categorically that the Ghanaian community in Israel “is currently safe”.

This follows a viral video that supposedly captured some Ghanaians stranded near a bombed city.

“The Ministry wishes to state categorically that the incident in the said video did not occur in Gaza nor Israel, or anywhere related to the ongoing conflict,” a press release on Wednesday, October 11 clarified.

“The general public is therefore advised to disregard this misleading video.”

There was a deadly cross-border raid by Palestinian militants last Saturday on thousands at a music festival in Israel.

Many including 14 Americans were killed by Hamas.

Israel has since retaliated by shelling Gaza, leaving more than 1,000 dead. Power has also been cut to residents in Gaza.

The Ministry has provided hotlines for Ghanaian citizens to contact the Ghana Embassy in Israel in the event of any concerns or emergencies related to the crossfire.

“The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates in due course.”
