I won’t lament, I’ll fix economic challenges – Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has made it clear that his focus is on finding solutions to Ghana’s problems rather than lamenting or assigning blame.
Delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, he reiterated his commitment to tackling the country’s economic and social challenges head-on.
His remarks come amid calls from the Minority in Parliament, who have demanded that he substantiate his claims that the previous administration mismanaged the economy through alleged criminal negligence.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to shift blame when confronted with challenges,” President Mahama stated. “My approach is to work hard and resolve them. Indeed, this is what the people of Ghana elected me to do.”
He assured Ghanaians that his administration is focused on addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
“I am therefore not here to lament the state of our country, though there is much to lament about. I understand why I was re-elected with such high voter confidence, and that is to solve Ghana’s problems.”
Citing his previous achievements, Mahama reaffirmed his ability to deliver on his promises, particularly recalling how he successfully resolved Ghana’s energy crisis.
“I promised to fix ‘dumsor,’ and I fixed it. There was no power rationing or load management in Ghana,” he reminded the nation.
As Ghana faces economic hardships, Mahama’s address aimed to assure citizens that his government is committed to restoring stability and progress.
