Prosper Kumi unanimously confirmed as Hohoe MCE  

 Mr Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Constituency Secretary, National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been unanimously approved as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Hohoe.  

He polled 25 ‘Yes’ votes representing 100 per cent.  

Mr Kumi in his acceptance address said his vision for the Municipality was one of prosperity, inclusivity and sustainability.  

He said they would work tirelessly to create opportunities for economic growth, improve living standards and access to quality services.  

Mr Kumi said there were a lot of resources to harness in the Hohoe Municipality adding that they would push to strengthen the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) base and strengthen connectivity with donor partners to ensure stability in resource mobilization.

He pledged to work with every stakeholder for the growth and development of the Municipality as he began his tenure and would look forward to a strong partnership with individuals and groups to address challenges facing the Municipality.  

He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating him to serve a critical Municipality as Hohoe and thanked the Assembly members for the unanimous endorsement adding that it represented their readiness to collaborate with him.

Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Hohoe Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) said the presence of traditional rulers from all areas showed how they approved Mr Kumi adding that no decisions regarding the development of the Municipality would be taken without consulting the appropriate stakeholders including the traditional rulers. 

Mr Tsekpo promised to ensure that the Municipality became one that all would be proud of and compete with other developed Municipalities and assured all Assembly members that their electoral areas would receive fair share of developmental projects. 

He gave the assurance that road networks in the Constituency and completion of Fodome campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) would be attended to.

Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, said a total of 18 people had been nominated to represent the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region and hoped that the Municipality would receive a Metropolitan Status in the nearest future. 

He said the confirmation of Mr Kumi meant that development, progress, payment of allowances to Assembly members and development of electoral areas were endorsed.
