Black Queens: Mercy Tagoe sacked as GFA appoints Swiss Head Coach

The senior women’s national team, also known as the Black Queens, presently has Nora Häuptle as its head coach.

The 39-year-old former Swiss International is a graduate of the University of Bern, where she also earned a Bachelor of Philosophy and a Minor in Theatre Sciences in addition to her Masters in Sports Sciences.

Nora previously served as an Instructor for the Swiss Football Association and has a UEFA Pro Licence accreditation.

She also holds diplomas in CAS Sports Management from the University of St. Gallen and Shalkeh 04, UEFA Mentorship Hope Powell from Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Athletics Coaching from the Swiss Football Association and Swiss Tennis, Strength and Conditioning from the Swiss Olympic team, Olympic Weightlifting from the Swiss Olympic team, EXOS Level I & FMS, and Sailing and Motoboat Licensing.

Between 1996 and 2010, she participated in matches with BSC Young Boys, FFC Zuchwil 05, FC Twente Enschade, FC Thun, and the Swiss national team. She worked as a coach with FC Thun from 2009 to 2012 before becoming Romina Oprandi’s conditioning coach.

Nora previously served as the national team’s head coach and women’s director for the Israeli Football Association. She also worked briefly with SC Sand 1946, a German Women’s Bundeliga club.
