The Battor-Aveyime Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man suspected of beheading his 12-year-old relative at Mafi Dove in the Volta Region’s Central Tongu District.
Dovi Tsidi, 26, is accused of beheading 12-year-old Kofi Kuzagbe Tsidi on Sunday around 9:00 p.m.
A self-proclaimed prophetess has also been linked to the heinous murder.
The victim “was drowned to ensure that he became weak before he was killed,” according to Mr. Moses Awukuvi, Assembly Member for the Mafi Dove Electoral Area.
“They live in the same house. After the drumming, he took the deceased from Mafi Dove and crossed the creek at Mlagoe to Aflokofe, where the crime was committed.”
Following the burial of a relative of the victim and the suspect, the residents held a drumming competition, which left the community in a state of shock.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Battor Aveyime Police Command, which is on the scene conducting an investigation into the incident.
