Electricity power challenges interrupt water supply in Volta

Water supply in the Volta Region has been affected due to disruptions in electricity power supply. 

The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Region said it had experienced interruptions in water supply from some production centres due to the power supply challenges. 

Mr Ransford Nii Djan Amoo, Volta Regional Production Manager, Ghana Water Limited in a release said the affected Plants were Kpando, Agordome and Kpeve.

“The Kpando Water Treatment Plant (WTP) experienced a power phase loss early May 3, 2025 at 0600 hours, which temporarily halted production.” 

He said with prompt intervention from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Kpando District, the issue had been fully resolved, and water production had resumed. 

Mr Amoo said the Agordome Water Treatment Plant also experienced low voltage issues on May 2, 2025 at 1600 hours, which temporarily affected production activities.

He noted that the Sogakope District ECG swiftly responded leading to the problem being resolved while the plant had resumed normal operations. 

Mr Amoo said the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant, however, was currently facing unbalanced phase voltages since May 2, 2025 at 1600 hours.

He said ECG personnel were working diligently to address the issue and normal production would resume immediately upon resolution. 

Mr Amoo said the GWL apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure uninterrupted water supply.  

He also noted that updates would be provided regularly.
