I’m mentally ready for Lomachenko fight – Commey

Former IBF Lightweight champion, Richard Comment, says he is not bothered by the prospect of losing in the ring to any opponent.

The 34 year old Ghanaian lost his world title to Teofimo Lopez, in his last appearance at the Madison Square Garden in 2019.

Speaking at the pre-bout press conference, Commey said he is mentally ready for the test of Lomachenko.

“The last time didn’t go too well for me, but I’m still excited to return to Madison Square Garden, and I have the opportunity to right the wrong” Commey said.

“I have the support of Ghanaians back home and I’m confident. It will not be an easy fight, but I’m confident.

Commey also said he is not dwelling on the defeat to Teofimo Lopez in his last high profile bout.

“Losing is part of boxing, and regardless of how you lose its always about how you come back.

“Whatever happened in the Teofimo fight has happened and I take is as a man. I had to come back strong against Marines and I did. So Saturday is another chance for me and we will see,” Commey added.

Vasiliy Lomachenko and Richard Commey are expected to make their ringwalks around 4am GMT.
